2026- Taking Part in Potfest by the Lake – Compton Verney

Amanda’s work is experimental and centred in nature, seasonal changes, decay and how time changes things. She observes how over time surface quality changes, objects split apart, flake off, develop mould – natural mark making and change through simply being. She adores texture, a neutral palate and the slightly non perfect! Her recent collections have evolved around the close study of mushrooms, frogspawn, stone and wood and she has been incorporating wild clay from her garden to achieve her more textured work.

In her words “I love the weight, feel and look of an old frayed crumpled piece of linen and if has been darned and has stains then even better! I am not trying to create perfection but to play with the beauty of imperfection and experiment with how far I can push the clay to give me the effect I am looking for. It is based on instinct and the feeling I get when I look at a creation. If I don’t get that glow of happiness or feeling of excitement, I collapse the clay in my hands and start all over again”.

Amanda decided to start selling her work in May 2024 and within weeks was offered a two month solo exhibition with Bamford at Daylesford in the Cotswolds and Mayfair, London. In quick succession her work has been purchased by galleries in Paris and Houston and in 2025 she started exhibiting with the Joanna Bird Gallery in London, Camdpen Gallery in Gloucestershire where she lives, and more recently Bevere Gallery near her childhood home in Worcestershire.
