2026 – Taking part in Potfest by the Lake – Compton Verney and Potfest in the Park – Hutton-in-the-Forest
At Tydd Pottery my wife, Di and I make decorated vessels up to 60cms high. They are built up from coils using a mixture of two clays- a porcelain body and Valentines GT material.
When complete several layers of slip, produced from the same mixture, are applied and the vessel is subsequently burnished . This provides a smooth white surface for the geometric and repetitive patterns which are then painted onto it. The pot is fired to 1200c and finally sealed and polished.
Our ambition is to produce objects which are striking, which have a ‘wow factor, and in which pattern and form work together to produce interesting and beautiful effects!
