2026 – Taking part in Potfest Scotland – Scone Palace and Potfest Suffolk – Haughley Park
The Isle of Harris is the inspiration for my decorative and sculptural ceramics. Using various clays and layering my unique pallet of glazes, I make pieces connecting with my memories and heritage. Growing up between England and the Isle of Harris I experienced the warmth of Hebridean culture as well as the wild expanse of the sea and hills which have deeply influenced me. The coastlines with the ever changing light, rocks and lichen, along with memories inform my creative practice.
I have formulated a palette of glazes which are applied by pouring, brushing and sponging giving each piece individuality. The volcanic areas are then ground down to reveal the bubbling, dry texture beneath, these eroded areas contrast with the watery, fluid glazes as the sea foaming on the rocks.
Individually sculpted barnacles are applied to some pieces, as well as the reference to the sea, these barnacles also represent time passing, memories and loss.
