Carla Sealey – Naked Clay Ceramics

Naked Clay Ceramics is a collection of functional and sculptural black stoneware and white porcelain designed and made by Carla Sealey since 2017.
Inspiration comes from the colours and textures of nature and from ancestral hand building forms as well as contemporary minimal aesthetics.
Pieces are made using a variety of techniques; coil built, slab built and slip cast in handmade moulds. Porcelain slip is often used for mark making on the dark clay.
Different glazes are layered together to produce intense unique colour finishes contrasting with the matt clay. Usually there is minimal glaze on the outside, offering a tactile and immediate connection to the natural clay.
