
Eleanor Wheeler – Elfire Ceramics
Eleanor studied ceramics at Grays School of Art, Aberdeen and MA in Cardiff followed by a PhD in Architectural Ceramics and Public Art at Northumbria University.
Eleanor works in County Down as a designer-maker, specialising in making large scale site-specific sculpture in ceramics and other materials. She has been commissioned to make artwork for public and private buildings and gardens, including the BBC, National Trust and Ulster Museum.
Eleanor travels extensively and has undertaken International residencies in India, China and The Czech Republic. Travel inspires new ideas and concepts and nurtures the artist’s lifelong fascination with journeys, cultural differences and similarities exemplified through animals and their part in stories and traditions.
Her awards include the Rosy James Award and the Arts Council NI International Residency Award.
