2026- Taking part in Potfest in the Pens – Penrith Autumn

My work explores the expressive potential of clay through thrown vessels. I’m drawn to the material’s inherent versatility, its ability to shift from fluid to solid, from raw earth to refined object.

Each piece is a dialogue between form and surface. I employ a range of fine burnishing slips to the unpredictable alchemy of saggar firings. These processes allow for both control and spontaneity, revealing textures and tones that echo the elemental nature of clay itself.

Rooted in a deep respect for traditional craftsmanship and experimental firing methods, my practice is a continuous exploration of clay’s transformative power.
Saggar firing transforms the clay into a canvas for chance and chemistry. I use natural combustibles such as leaves, grasses, seaweed, wire wool, and copper wire, the flames and smoke leave unpredictable yet harmonious traces. These materials infuse the pots with depth, colour, and organic patterning, echoing landscapes, weathered stone, and the quiet poetry of nature.
