Taking part in Potfest in the Pens. – Penrith (Spring)

My work takes its inspiration from the process of entropy in the surrounding environment. I am particularly drawn to the juxtaposition between the hand of man and the hand of nature and how, despite our best efforts, everything inevitably perishes. To me, the layers of history revealed during this disintegration, are at once intriguing and beautiful.

I am aiming to capture this melancholic beauty in my tableware, principally in its surface patina. My pieces are heavily textured, often directly from the surfaces of found salvage and rich in layers of muted-colour slips, oxides and glazes.
