2026 – Taking part in Potfest Scotland – Scone Palace

Julia Smith (b. 1974) studied ceramics at Glasgow School of Art and now works from her quiet garden studio in Ardersier overlooking the Moray Firth – a beautiful natural environment which provides endless inspiration. Her glaze colours are reminiscent of seascapes with light reflected on the water or mist rolling in. Her illustrations of mountains, animals and trees are recreated as decals and hand painted with on glaze enamels and fired on top of the glazes. Her work is thrown with a variety of clays, decorated with studio made glazes and fired in electric kilns.
