2026 – Taking part in Potfest by the Lake – Compton Verney

Kat Wheeler makes functional ware that is utilitarian and decorative. Her work is thrown on the wheel using a grogged terra cotta. Each piece is decorated with thick slips to create texture and movement. They are finished with ash glazes and fired high to 1220.

Kat’s work represents a blend of influences and life experiences. Most prominently, these include her American background and developmental years spent at the Leach pottery. Other major influences include short times spent working in Japan and studying in Australia. Kat lives in St Ives and makes her work in the Gaolyard Studios.
