Lesley makes stylised figurative ceramic sculptures and she takes inspiration for her expressive and imaginative works from animals and nature represented in folk tales, rhymes and mythology as well as personal encounters at home and abroad.

After completing a degree in 3D /Ceramics at Cardiff college of Art Lesley taught full time in a secondary school until she started a family. She set up her first workshop in 1993 and began creating , exhibiting and selling her work in galleries and shows throughout the UK .Over the years Lesley has received awards from both her peers and arts and crafts organisations .

All of the works are individually hand built in a grogged clay body and modelled using fingers and simple tools Then the surface of the finished object is sponged to expose the texture of the clay. Surface ,colour and decoration are enhanced using body stains , coloured slips, underglaze and metallic oxides. Transparent glaze is used in the areas where gold or platinum silver lustre finish is applied . Firings, up to three times, are in an electric kiln in the range of 1185 – 1200 centigrade .Finally decorative ornaments on some pieces using tassels ,wire and hand made beads are assembled and added as a contrast and to create a sensation of movement.
