2024 – Taking part in Potfest South West – Shaftesbury and Potfest Suffolk – Haughley Park
Lesley creates atmospheric porcelain wall pieces, hand built vessels and a range of jewellery inspired by the British countryside and coast. The rolling hills, woodland and wildlife surrounding her Derbyshire home, feature strongly in her designs.
Working from sketches Lesley firstly translates the image into soft clay with line and texture. Following a bisque firing, colour and contrast are achieved through the application of resist, oxide and glaze.
A final high temperature firing transforms the oxide to metal and combines it with the porcelain, whilst the glaze develops a delicate crackle which is enhanced by a wash of Indian ink.
