2026 – Taking part in Potfest by the Lake – Compton Verney and Potfest in the Park – Hutton-in-the-Forest

Lucy Rutter’s simple wheel-thrown forms pay careful attention to functionality and yet they have a sculptural element. This is created through placing or nesting, and through choices made in the finish: subtle or pronounced throwing rings, smoothed sides and glaze, applied or left bare on these surfaces. Her myriad of hand-made glazes explores a formal approach to colour. Both oxidized and reduction firings are employed to create a gentle palette of soft neutral glazes with playful pops of colour. Rutter also teaches part-time at the Leach Pottery and is influenced by their mid-century standardware as well as by Scandinavian ceramics.
