2026 – Taking part in Potfest South East – Glynde Place and Potfest in the Pens Penrith – Autumn
My inspiration comes from our constantly changing planet and the diversity found in its landscapes and oceans.
My moon jars represent our world as globes; using coloured slips, resists and glazes- to create both ocean themes and imagined worlds, with both visual and tactile appeal.
My landscape vessels reflect places in our natural world which have left an imprint in my memory. They are thrown then altered to a landscape format. I use many layers of colourful vitreous slips, underglazes and oxides to build up texture and depth, also brushes, sponges and rollers in a painterly manner, creating a scene around the vessel.
I began my ceramics journey learning traditional techniques in my native South Africa. After moving to Britain, I gained an MA in ceramics at UCA Farnham.
I am constantly exploring and learning but, even after years, I still find a real joy in opening the kiln; only then does each piece fully reveal its story.
