2026 – Taking part in Potfest by the Lake – Compton Verney and Potfest in the Park – Hutton-in-the-Forest
Melanie Keevil is a Birmingham-based ceramic artist who creates abstract stoneware wall panels and vessels exploring the relationship between colour, form, and light. Her inspiration comes from time spent in a variety of landscapes — from the sunlit hills and weathered buildings of Provence and Barcelona to the dramatic coastlines and rock formations of Cornwall, Wales, and Scotland. She is drawn to the textures of stone and plaster, the faded tones of shutters, and the layered surfaces of cliffs and mountains.
These impressions feed directly into her making. Each piece is hand-built from white stoneware clay, then carved, layered with coloured slips and stains, and finished with multiple glazes to create depth and contrast. By abstracting these details, Melanie seeks to capture the spirit of a place while leaving room for viewers to bring their own memories and interpretations.
