Melanie creates hand-built earthenware ceramics that often incorporate figurative elements. Her work spans a wide range of forms, from intimate wall-mounted pieces to richly decorated urns and large-scale sculptural figures. More recently, she has begun exploring ceramics as functional lighting for domestic spaces, expanding her practice into new territory.
Her travels in Europe and Mexico have been a major influence, particularly the diverse ways different cultures give visual form to religious beliefs. This inspiration infuses her work with symbolic and narrative qualities, expressed through her distinctive use of colour and surface decoration.
Melanie’s ceramics are vibrant and highly adorned, embodying a sense of joy that she seeks to share with others.
