My name is Ese Johnson and I am a ceramicist based in Glasgow, creating under the brand name Mind to Matter Ceramics.
Mind to Matter Ceramics embodies the spirit of merging cultures and traditions through art- The objects that ensue are for interior space decoration, ranging from light pieces to utilitarian and display pieces. I create collectable objects of art using clay to represent the spirits of African and Scottish-European traditions and craft heritages. My creations are graphic and have exceptional decorative elements/finishes that tell stories of culture, meaning, identity and emotions of significance.
I am a Nigerian-born artist and interior designer and my desire for creating is to bridge the gap between the different yet closely linked cultures I embody and identify with today. I also create bespoke commissions for clients/businesses that want one off and tailored wares.
