For Nina clay was the missing link in a lifelong creative journey. After years of being told that art was “not a real job,” she discovered ceramics in 2019, quickly developing a signature style that celebrates the perfectly imperfect. Operating from the Shropshire Hills, Nina’s work is an equal blend of decorative and functional, designed for those who find beauty in the objects they use every day.
Nina’s process is one of constant negotiation. Whether she’s throwing at the wheel or hand-sculpting forms inspired by local wildlife, she describes her work as a “conversation” with the clay—a balance between her creative vision and what the material itself wants to become.
This fascination with transformation also led her to Raku pottery, where the elemental forces of fire and smoke create unique, unrepeatable finishes. By incorporating salvaged wood and metalwork into her ceramic forms, Nina creates tactile, multi-media pieces that bring the wild, atmospheric spirit of the British countryside into the home.
