Patricia Millar Ceramics
2025 – Taking part in Potfest Scotland – Scone Palace and Potfest by the Lake – Compton Verney
Born in Belfast under the shadow of the Cavehill, Patricia’s interest lies in the ancient past. A childhood playing around Bronze Age sites, digging clay and making bowls hardened in bonfires, have shaped her ceramic practice of today.
Her pottery studio is found on the Causeway coast, in Northern Ireland. Patricia digs local clay and incorporates found materials into her wheel thrown and hand- built forms. Unique colours and textures from the landscape are achieved by her own blended clays, ash glaze and multiple firings that include both pit and wood firings.
Her vessels celebrate form, colour and texture of their geological and anthropological origins.
Nominated by Craft NI as one to watch for the BBC Arts Show and a featured artist on BBC Countryfile, Patricia has had work selected by the Royal Ulster Academy, public commissions for Seamus Heaney HomePlace and Ards and North Down Borough Council. Representing Northern Ireland for the Creative Momentum in Sweden, she is a regular exhibitor with Ceramics Ireland as well as solo and group exhibitions.
This year has seen her work selected for the prestigious Collect Open at Somerset House in London with a large-scale installation of her “Bogland ware”.
She makes private commissions, offers pit firing workshops and is invited to demonstrate her processes.
