2026 – Taking part in Potfest Scotland – Scone Palace
My work explores pattern, surface textures and mark making through bottle and vessel forms. Each piece connects somehow to the land as it is created. Through note taking and drawings, the textures and pattens around me become known on the clay. Sometimes, it is pattern that comes to the fore, both naturally occurring or man-made, especially through the more recent exploration of abstract ‘collage’ style decoration with pops of colour. At other times, textures and marks are added with pebbles or twigs or are allowed to be discovered through the reactions of heat and glaze with additions of found clay, river silt or sand gathered. My work is made through a variety of techniques; thrown, slab building and coiling. It is constantly evolving.
