I came to sculpture later in life after a long career in specialist mental health services. I strive to create expressive figurative work that celebrates personality, ageing, and the emotional richness of being human. I hand-build each piece in mid-range earthenware using intuitive sculptural approaches preferring to work closely with the clay, letting fingerprints, textures and tool marks stay visible—they become part of the story of each figure. Much like the laughter lines on my face!
