Sharon creates tactile wheel-thrown and altered vessels in porcelain and stoneware. She explores the relationship between eye and hand, translating visual influences into textural effects on her work. She references themes of erosion and corrosion using deep throwing lines, often pushing pieces to the brink of collapse. Tools are dragged across the surface, interrupting the flow of throwing, to represent ruptures of landscape; marks which Sharon sees as a parallel reference to life, where events of sudden change can rupture the flow of our existence.

Sharon enjoys the strong connection between maker and user, encouraging fingers to explore the texture her hands created.

She gathers clays from her farm to use as slips, inclusions and ingredients in her own recipe glazes, along with iron flakes and ash, tying each vessel to its place of origin.
