2026 – Taking part in Potfest Suffolk – Haughley Park and Potfest in the City – Glasgow
My name is Simon Horton. I’m a potter currently based in Wallingford, South Oxfordshire. I use a variety of techniques to make reduction fired, stoneware pots intended for use and display in the home, with particular emphasis on glazes utilising wood ash and other found materials. I’m inspired by pots which prioritise form, from medieval slipware to early Chinese and Korean pots, through C20th stoneware. The pots I admire the most are quiet, understated and modest, with a strong emphasis on function. Much of my current work is fired in a small self-built gas kiln, with a range of anagama wood-fired pots usually available.
