Kettles Pottery Supplies was started by Alasdair Kettles around 1978.  Alasdair was a production potter, throwing large vessels commercially.   He started supplying local schools with clay and as the demand grew to all across Scotland, he transitioned fulltime into the supply side of the business.

In 2021 Kettles Pottery Supplies was taken on by Ash Lim.  Ash had been a customer of Alasdair’s for several years while working as a technician at the Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop and wanted to make sure Scotland maintained it’s only pottery supplies company.

Ash studied 3D Design & Craft at Brighton University and has spent his life making, art, sculpture in a verity of mediums.  He has always loved clay and its endless possibilities and is hoping to be able to focus a bit more time on his own making in the next couple of years.

Kettles Pottery Supplies is Scotland largest pottery supply company and supplies everything to do with ceramics, from clay, tools and glazes as well as kilns, wheels and raw materials.  Kettles also has a dedicated kiln engineer, Chris, who travels Scotland keeping potters going!

Kettles has a shop in Portobello, Edinburgh and also offers personal delivery across a large area of Scotland.
