I like to make. I have always liked to make. I suppose this harks back to a childhood of plasticise animals, air fix models and my tendency to fiddle and fidget, a restless artistic energy too explore and create. My work is made from red or white earthenware clay and decorated with coloured slips and simple pallet of glazes. I use simple, but effective decorating techniques. I try to keep an honesty to my work that honours medieval ceramics and bright contemporary surface patterns.

My Studio looks out over my garden. The nature in my garden inspires my work. Swifts seem to be a real inspiration at present, they sometimes nest in the roof of my house. Another inspiration source is the fish in my pond and the hares I see while walking my dogs out over the hills and fields nearby. With all this inspiration I like to make things that are useful, that can be used in the home. This works well and in tandem with my love for cooking and entertaining, but the biggest Joy is to make something lovely then share it with Friends and new acquaintances over a sumptuous meal.
