Crunch utilises self-sourced native materials in her practice for their intrinsic connection to place, provenance and natural heritage. The devoted and sustainable approach she takes in her work is testament to her principles as an environmentalist.
Her practice champions foraging resources directly from the earth and honours the profound human need to connect with the natural world. By celebrating the multifarious characters of precious and often overlooked native Scottish materials such as clay, alluvial deposits, peat and soil she intend to evoke a sense of curiosity, reflection and reverence for the natural environments that shape our lives whilst fostering a mind-set of conservation and preservation.
