Francis Lloyd-Jones
2026 – Taking part in Potfest South East – Glynde Place, Potfest by the Lake – Compton Verney, Potfest South West – Shaftesbury and Potfest in the Park – Hutton-in-the-Forest
Francis’ work is all thrown and sometimes altered with an aim to look for a balance between looseness and definition. They are intended for daily routine, drawing out the contentment of habitual domestic activities.
Functional objects are the main concern, pots made for use but also pots that nod to a past function, featuring remnants of utilitarian components now ultimately defunct but repurposed as decoration.
Francis uses stoneware clays and a muted palette of slips and glazes to complement his forms. Firing in a salt kiln gives his desired effects, ensuring a variation across each surface that is not wholly predictable.
