2026- Taking part in Potfest in the City- Glasgow
I am a Scottish maker working primarily in porcelain. My practice explores the balance between form and surface.
Using the traditional glass-cutting technique battuto, I carve into the clay with a diamond lathe to create a collection of functional tableware and home accessories that highlight porcelain’s defining quality: delicate translucency. Teapots, cups, and vases thus become highly textured and tactile, inviting touch.
Each piece is individually slip-casting, then meticulously carved to remove layers of coloured porcelain, revealing the layer beneath and offering subtle glimpses of coloured glaze below the surface.
More recently I have created a collection of decorative forms using brushed and marbled porcelain slip techniques.
Trained at Edinburgh College of Art and graduating with a BA (Hons) in Applied Arts, I continue to teach in higher education while maintaining a busy studio practice at Wasps Studios in Newburgh, Fife.
