Georgia Wright – Little Egret Pottery
I first made a ceramic bird feeder to replace a plastic one in my garden, not expected it to grow into a business. However, after experimenting with designs and watching how the birds used them, I quickly became hooked.
Making and selling bird feeders and bird baths is now my way of sharing functional ceramic pieces while hopefully helping to support the UK’s declining garden bird population. Working from my garden studio on the Sussex coast allows me to watch the birds feeding, which I find as equally rewarding as working with clay.
I enjoy both the creativity and the technical challenges involved in making bird feeders and baths. Each piece is either thrown or hand built from stoneware, fitted with stainless steel fixings, and finished with a limited palette of yellow, blue, and green glazes.
