Laura Green- Greengill Pottery
Taking part in Potfest in the Pens Penrith – Autumn
My name is Laura Green and I have been working with clay for nearly 2 years. As a ceramic artist I strive to create functional wheel thrown ceramics inspired by the landscapes in which I live and those I visit often. I make pieces to be used and lived with everyday, carrying warmth and care within their forms and creating a quiet connection to the natural world.
I love the way clay responds to touch — every mark, curve, and variation becoming part of the finished object. My work is inspired by places that feel grounding to me: from the fells and open water of the Lake District to dramatic coastlines and oceans of the UK and beyond.
I am on a journey to develop my signature style of work that responds and explores these influences, utilising texture and neutral tones,
stencils to create patterns, and the exploration of layered glazes of blues and greens, allowing them to move and settle in their own way to reflect my influences – from deep lakes or stormy seas to calm oceans and shifting tides.
