Hannah Flush – Beehive Ceramics
2026 – Taking part in Potfest in the Pens Penrith – Autumn
I started creating pots a little over 10 years ago when completing a Decorative Arts degree specialising in glass and ceramics. My pottery has always reflected my personality, someone who loves nothing more than being by the sea and the natural landscape.
My work is mainly functional as I have a huge passion for interiors and love to see individuality in a home. Whilst my work is all based around the seaside landscape the stoneware I use has the inclusion of speckles in the clay body itself which I enhance in the glaze application. I add flecks or dash’s of colour to highlight my pieces in a subtle and contemporary manor.
I have always had a huge love for nature and the landscapes around me so I try to create pieces that have a slight individuality to show that nothing is ever the same. It’s also very important to me that my pieces still show the raw aspect of the clay, therefore I leave some parts of my pots unglazed in order to mimic the smooth against the rough of the landscape of Northern Ireland where I live and the Wirral where I grew up.
Wherever I can I try to package and recycle in all aspects of the business to make it as sustainable as I possibly can. In the past year I have been making smaller batches of work, but still do to order pieces.
I also have a studio in Donaghadee where I hold classes, teaching wheel throwing and hand making.
