2025 – Taking part in Potfest in the Pens – Penrith Autumn and Potfest in the Pens Melton Mowbray
From the first time I began to work with clay at a Saturday morning children’s workshop, I was hooked. I recall the wonderful facilities that we were free to work with: spray booths and wheels – glorious!
I draw influences from our beautiful coastal region in North Devon, as well as Japanese ceramic culture and continue to study this rich legacy through clay.
Over the years I have worked in theatre costume; in hospitals; in education and I’m now able to dedicate more time to ceramics.
My work is wheel-thrown; occasionally hand-built and I use a variety of clays, mainly TKJ or Dobles, depending on the piece. I continue to deepen my glaze and firing knowledge through a range of kiln firings: including communal anagama wood firings and reduction gas firings, at Kigbeare Studios near Okehampton.
