Cumbrian Moonjars: A journey into lichen and gold.
The story of the Cumbrian Moonjar is one dialogue between the raw, untamed elements of nature and the refined elegance of pure gold. It is about finding harmony in contrasts—celebrating the “perfect imperfections” that make each piece unique and creating objects that resonate with both history and meaning.
The foundation of this collection is a large 17th century Korean jar, posthumously described as “Moon Jar”. The Gold Collection is my own interpretation of this iconic form. The Cumbrian landscape is my primary inspiration; the textures of the rocks, the growth of lichen, and the shifting mountain light all find their way into the clay.
