2026 – Taking part in Potfest South East Glynde Place, Potfest by the Lake Compton Verney, Potfest Suffolk – Haughley Park and Potfest in the Pens – Penrith Autumn
A love of colour – combining, contrasting, harmonising – and the desire to make ‘useful’ things have always been the drivers in my life as a maker and as a potter.
My current practice stems from these motivations: the skilful
production of a functional item with a focus on achieving a harmony between form and colour. Vases are, for me, the perfect object in which to combine both.
Further, the grouping of pots according to form and colour is akin to arranging a choir – do they sing well together?
All forms are thrown in a smooth, white earthenware clay.
I love the immediacy of throwing, its sketchpad nature.
Predominantly using one base glaze, different proportions of stains are added to achieve the desired colours. Glaze is brushed on, or dipped into, and all work is fired in an electric kiln.
Alongside selling work via my website, social media and galleries throughout the UK, teaching also forms a rewarding aspect of my practice.
