2026 – Taking part in Potfest Scotland – Scone Palace and Potfest in the Pens – Melton Mowbray
In my Lancashire studio I create contemporary ceramic vessels, bowls, wall pieces and handmade ceramic jewellery. My jewellery is created from smooth black onyx porcelain or high fired white porcelain which are both strong and durable and compliment the designs of my ceramic work.
The wrap vases, bowls and wall pieces are slab formed using textured black stoneware clay. The clay is decorated with slips before being impressed with marks which are inspired by photographs taken whilst travelling extensively. Oxides and glazes highlight the mark making without covering the earthy qualities of the clay.
The marks made on my work are created with man-made objects such as screws and nails found on the street, or from parts of circuit boards salvaged from abandoned electrical goods. This way of impressing marks into clay is a reflection of my long-held fascination with the concept of future fossils and how the throw away nature of modern life affects the land.
