Taking part in Potfest in the Pens – Melton Mowbray

I work with clay in whatever way that I want to.

After graduating from Bristol Polytechnic with a degree in Art & Design in 1978, I explored creativity in various forms before rediscovering the joys and wonders of ceramics a couple of years ago.

I like to find different ways of building, often using coils, sometimes slabs, sometimes both and sometimes neither. Fields and birds are current themes for inspiration, and I’m enjoying developing throwing skills as well as hand-building.

The ceramic process is fascinating, and it’s good to be able to experiment with different colours, colour combinations and finishes, including glazes and oxides.

I have a long-standing interest in sawdust firing and am hoping to be able to revisit that this summer; also Raku if I get the chance.

Glad about Ceramics
