Marina’s love for clay resides in the ancient connection between people and the Earth, particularly via the primal art of various cultures and their ritualistic and sacred objects.
Her figurative pieces explore creative traditions of Earth and Spirit, and she is particularly interested in the way objects impact our daily life, our surroundings, and our wellbeing and sense of self. The core of her ceramic practice centres around her curiosity about how anima is transmitted through physical objects.
Using hand-building and sculpting techniques, she makes her pieces in porcelain and stoneware clays.
