Matt Grimmitt Slipware Pottery
Born in 1977 in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, Matt Grimmitt has been making hand-thrown pots for almost 20 years, having spent over half of his career as a potter and manager at the historic Winchcombe Pottery between 2012 and 2024.
Matt returned to making slipware pots for himself in March 2024, working from his own workshop in Evesham. His pots are made to be used in the home—celebrations of and enhancements to the table.
Matts ceramics are rooted in historic pottery traditions and reflect influences from the Leach tradition. These are pots intended for contemporary use in the modern home. Most of the work is thrown from red earthenware clay and decorated with slips, finished with warm, honey-coloured glazes.
