Nicola Comrie – Clevedon Clay

2026 – Taking part in Potfest in the Pens – Penrith Spring

Working in white earthenware Nicola’s slab built ceramics feature imprints of plants and flowers that grow in the gardens and hedgerows of the Somerset countryside. Fascinated by intricate botanical imprints in the clay, the imprinted slab is formed into a functional ceramic, bisque fired and then painstakingly hand painted with ceramic underglazes to replicate the colours of nature. Finished with a clear glaze Nicola’s work – from spring snowdrops to winter mistletoe, features a year of botanical seasons in clay.
