2025 – Taking part in Potfest Scotland – Scone Palace
I have been building my ceramic practice since 2015, after graduating with a Masters in Ceramics (Cardiff School of Art and Design). I work from home in the countryside of Tyrone and am directly inspired by the Irish nature that surrounds me. I primarily slip cast and hand build my porcelain functional and decorative wares, and have two main collections that are decorated using different techniques.
My ‘Botanicals’ range is finished with abstract brushstrokes of bright and colourful glazes. Pieces from this collection also feature my own original watercolour designs of flora and fauna, as decals fired into the glaze surface. My ‘Dribble’ collection of decorative wares are very tactile, reminiscent of lichens, barnacles and fungi. Within this work, I use a material called Egyptian Faience- a mixture of glass and clay ingredients, to fill small ‘pockets’ of porcelain. The glass within the mixture is allowed to melt and move at high temperatures, so each piece is unique and unknown until taken out of the kiln.
My main aim is to create work that is fun and beautiful, providing the joy of nature in each piece.
