2026 – Taking part in Potfest South West- Shaftesbury

I am a ceramic artist based in North Somerset, Bleadon Village, UK and have been enthralled by the alchemic materiality of clay for many, many years. Clay first ‘found me’ at Junior school, after which, I took my Ba (Hons) Ceramics at Bristol Bower Ashton (now UWE). Then years later, I found myself back at my original school teaching ceramics – wonderful serendipity! Most recently, I qualified as a Master in Fine Art Ceramics at Bath Spa University in 2023, where I am now a creative mentor for their postgraduate residency at Sion Hill Campus.

Nature and clay have always ‘put me right’, so I’m curious about the wellbeing quality of clay and how combining it with the symbology of nature, can evoke an innate connection within the observer (biophilia).

My vessels are both functional and ornamental, directly inspired by trees, landscape, and geology. I create them by combining varieties of clays and porcelain; often salvaging old clays and glazes and re-purposing them. I also forage my own wild clays to create slips allowing me to reimagine the rich colours and textures of tree bark and landscape. Every mark is a whisper from nature…
