2026 – Taking part in Potfest South East – Glynde Place and Potfest in the City Glasgow

The sculptures I create, are a personal response to natural landscape. From an intimate and direct immersive experience spent within the landscape; mountain and sea, explorations of terrain through adventure and journeying. Always, since I can remember, a deep desire to be in nature and eventually pursuing climbing, surfing, cycling and running.

Capturing the essence of landscape found in the British Isles in abstract sculptural form and incorporate the findings from a broad exploration of process methods; mimicking the forces and manipulations of nature. Aesthetic captures the energy of process with a focus on texture and surface decoration. Process finds ways to encourage elements of chance and create stresses to capture an organic look.

There is a relationship between the material, the process and the terrain. Clay enables a physical, tactile exploration of one’s inner landscape as well as the physical landscape, just like the vessel there is both an inner and outer world to explore. Particularly relevant at a time when it feels as though we are disconnected from nature, from ourselves. Creating helps to strengthen my bond with the natural landscape and myself. I realise now that nature has always been my friend, teacher and therapist. We are nature, making sculpture allows me to experience the interconnectedness of everything and for these glimpses of oneness, I will always feel gratitude.

I invite the viewer to allow a conjuring of their own experience with nature, landscape, life. Sculpture and art evokes what is within us. What is within you when you look and feel?
