Lexie Macleod Pottery

2026 – Taking part in Potfest Scotland – Scone Palace

I am a potter. My work is functional, for everyday use – my range includes mugs, bowls, jugs, plates, teapots, teabowls and whisky drams made from high fired stoneware and porcelain. I firmly believe the things we encounter each day should be beautiful – a delight to hold, to touch, to know. I aim to make work that fulfils the purpose for which it was made and brings daily moments of joy to those using it.

I first encountered ceramics in Gray’s School of Art where I studied for my BA Hons. Since this discovery I have travelled widely, working in different potteries to glean new experiences and skills. My time at The Leach Pottery was a particular delight: a studio steeped in ceramic history offered the chance to work with and learn from master craftspeople: this directly led me to studying at the DCCOI’s Ceramic Skills Course in Thomastown, Ireland – an incredible experience – a pottery school devoted to mastering technical and practical ceramic skills and knowledge.

My current practice employs surface decoration (Hakeme Slipware) to create movement and life. Ash collected from my Highland hearth – used in the glazing process – offers a literal sense of place and time, interweaving earth, wood and air, offering an echo of home.
